You Can Bug Me Anytime - 1 Layer Card

Hello crafters! Ashlea here, and today I'm sharing a simple one layer card using the Lovebugs stamp set. One layer cards are sometimes a struggle for me because I always want to add dimension and interest to my cards. If you're familiar at all with my design style, you'll know that clean and simple is my preference for cards so adding dimension with die cuts is an easy and effective way to add more design and interest to my cards. Today, though, I'll show you some simple ways to do that on one layer cards.
To start, I used my MISTI to align the three bug stamps on the top portion of the card in Momento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them in with Copic Markers. I then took similar but lighter shades of those markers and created a glow of sorts around each bug and used my colorless blender to blend the colors out. I love that this draws attention to the bugs and adds a little extra color to the card. The images are small, so any way I can make them appear larger and to fill up the extra white space is a good idea.
I then stamped the sentiment "You Can Bug Me Anytime" directly underneath the big images. To add a little something to the design, I used a broad tip black pen to make tiny strokes from the tip of the bee's stinger and in a loop-de-loop pattern trailing off of the card stock. I thought this made it appear as if the bee flew onto the card front.
Lastly, because I can't help myself, I did add just a touch of dimension. I used the tiniest googl-y eyes and place them right on the bee's. This helps give the card a childish, fun feel and also adds some more character to the card.
I hope that you've enjoyed learning a little bit about how I created this one layer card. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I'll see you very soon!!"
